Privacy Policy

Askle ("the app", "we") is a 20-questions word game available on the web at askle.mainpy.dev and as a mobile app. This policy explains what data the app processes and why. There are no accounts and no sign-in.
What we process
- Game data. The questions you type, your guesses, the hidden word, the number of turns, the result, your language and game mode. This is sent to our server (Cloudflare Workers) to judge each question, and stored with a random device identifier that the app generates and keeps on your device. We use it to run the game and to improve the word lists and judging quality.
- Judging. To answer a question we send the question text and the hidden word's description to TypeSafe (api.typesafe.ai), which returns a yes/no probability. No identifier is sent with it.
- Technical data. Coarse country (from Cloudflare), user agent, platform (web/android/ios) and request timing, for reliability and abuse prevention (rate limiting).
- Analytics (mobile app only). Google Analytics for Firebase collects app interaction events (e.g. game started, game finished, screen viewed), device information, app version and, on Android, the Advertising ID, so we can understand usage and stability. The iOS app does not access the advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not track you across apps. See Google's privacy policy.
- Advertising (Android app only). The Android app may show ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect the Advertising ID, IP address and device information to serve and measure ads. Where required (EEA/UK and some US states) you will be asked for consent before personalized ads are shown, and you can change your choice any time in Settings → Ad privacy settings. See how Google uses data in AdMob.
What we do not do
- No accounts, names, emails, contacts, photos, location or microphone.
- We do not sell personal data.
- Game history shown in the app is stored only on your device (local storage) and can be cleared by uninstalling or clearing app data.
Sharing
Data is shared only with the processors named above: Cloudflare (hosting, database), TypeSafe (question judging), Google (Firebase Analytics, AdMob). Shared links you create (daily result, friend challenge) contain no personal data.
Retention
Game logs are kept for up to 24 months for quality analysis, then deleted or aggregated. Analytics retention follows Google's default (14 months).
Children
The app is intended for users aged 13 and over and is not directed at children.
Your rights
You can request deletion of the game logs tied to your device identifier by emailing help@mainpy.dev with the identifier shown in Settings. EEA/UK users have rights under GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, objection); contact the same address.
